SATAWU Strike Ends

The SATAWU strike at Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT), which lasted for 9 days, came to an end last night. The union officials finally accepted RBCT’s offer of 9.5% and signed a 3- year wage agreement.

"We are pleased that the agreement has been reached with our union members. They have accepted our original offer of 9.5% wage increases. We can now put all this behind us and focus our energies on moving coal, to the benefit of all our stakeholders," said Raymond Chirwa, RBCT CEO.
Terminal operations remained unaffected during the course of the strike. Employees that had been on strike returned to work this morning.
