Possible Expansion Study
Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) has decided to conduct an investigation to look into the possible options and viability of expanding the coal terminal beyond 91 million tons per annum.
The investigation will use the information received during the Phase V application process as its basis. A total of 26.85 million tons per annum of export coal allocation was applied for.
As a company we are committed to further growth if there is a compelling business case for it. The investigation will therefore focus on determining expansion options available, which can be supported by a sound business case for the increased capacity. The investigation is expected to be completed during the last quarter of 2007.
“RBCT remains committed to its strategic vision of satisfying the aspirations of all sustainable export coal producers,” said Kuseni Dlamini, Executive Chairman of RBCT
