On 22 June 2011, Richards Bay Coal Terminal yet showed another commitment and support to education development by donating 20 brand new computers to the value of R136 000 to ILembe Junior Secondary School at Esikhawini Township. At a well attended event, all speakers commended RBCT for an unwavering commitment and support to improve education of pupils in and around uMhlathuze Municipality. RBCT representatives met with the school principal last year and identified the need to donate computers to assist with the overload in the existing computer rooms. Addressing the Department of Education officials, School Management Team (SMT), teachers, community members and pupils, RBCT Corporate Affairs Manager, Zama Luthuli said, “as a good corporate citizen we decided to donate these computers so that learners have the opportunity to use computers that are new with up to date programmes and also to be technologically advanced. The computers we are donating today will also enable pupils be to be far more advanced when they reach the tertiary level.” “Thank you RBCT, today you are making a significant contribution that will be cherished by many generations to come. It is not for the first time you do such wonderful investment to this ward, RBCT built Ntabeni Primary School from the scratch and indeed this is a commitment well appreciated,” says M. Mthembu, Esikhawini Ward Manager, Department of Education. School principal, NE Mathunjwa reminded teachers and pupils that without their dedication, discipline and professionalism a good corporate citizen like RBCT could not see a need to come and assist with the computers. “I am proud of all ILembe staff and SMT and we will continue work as a team to achieve more things for our school, “says Mathunjwa. He also ensured RBCT that the computers are in good hands and they will be of good use. “As from today we will no longer face the challenge of overcrowding computer rooms which hindered teaching and learning,” concludes school principal. |
